Quality Systems SpecialistThe Quality Systems Specialist with (First Article Emphasis) primary role is First Article completion, submission and maintenance. Secondary roles include all other duties that support Quality System activities. Current or future competencies in other Quality System Primary roles may offer the candidate potential growth opportunities.Key ResponsibilitiesFirst Article (FAI) EmphasisManage and Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) per Internal, AS9102, and/or Customer Standards.Works with Operations and Production Control to manage FAI workload based on critical need.Review engineering drawings, specifications, and models to identify design characteristics for ballooned drawings to support First Article InspectionUses Foresight First Article Tools such as Discus software to "balloon" drawings, create and maintain Quality First Article files, records, and documents.Uses Customer Portal(s) to input, manage First Article submittals, access, review, Input, download, and submit Foresight/ Customer Information.Works with Customer representatives that are onsite or others to gain approval and resolve issues related to FAI or associated processes.Quality Systems Specialist (FAI emphasis) Includes General Inspection related responsibilities.GeneralInterpret and verify materials and products to Foresight, Customer, and Regulatory requirements.Perform in-process and final inspections of aerospace and non-aerospace components and assembliesInterpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and work instructionsUse precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality recordsIdentify non-conforming materials and initiate NCR documentationSupport root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activitiesReview, accepts/rejects material certifications and traceability documentation. Helps to manage replacement or missing documentation if needed.Ensures proper handling and storage of raw material and manufactured parts.Participate in internal and external audits, as needed or required.Inspects and determines acceptability of Supplier- or Customer-supplied materials.Assists in MRB activities.Assists Quality Manager and Quality Engineer as needed.Creates and manages metrics associated with FAI or as directed.Supports input and Management of Statistical Information as needed or required.Supports Return Material (RMA) process as needed or required.Support in the Calibration process as needed or required.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required (Technical certification preferred)Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, AdobeComputer skills in Discus a plus2+ years of quality-related experience in aerospace and/or precision manufacturing2+ years of First Article Inspection experience preferred.Experience working within AS9100 quality systemsKnowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirementsFamiliar with Quality inspection toolsFamiliarity with ERP/MRP systems and quality documentation softwareSkills & CompetenciesExceptional attention to detailStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and make sound quality decisionsEffective written and verbal communicationAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentWork EnvironmentManufacturing environmentMay require standing for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 25–40 lbsUse of PPE as requiredMay require overtime depending on production demandsThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
