Sr Health and Safety Specialist/Process Safety Management Summary This position will report to the Local Area Director and will be in Watford City, North Dakota. The role supports company goals related to all elements of PSM, emergency response, Industrial Hygiene, regulatory compliance, safety auditing, contractor safety, and training for crude, refined products, and gas assets. The specialist works individually and as part of the safety team to support Field Safety and Operations personnel, assist with company safety programs, develop standard operating procedures and training programs, create and adhere to all PSM regulations and policies, lead incident investigations, and review incident and near‑miss reports for effectiveness and corrective action. Travel requirements may range from 35% to 55% depending on business needs. The specialist may be assigned specific areas of responsibility but will work across all safety domains as required by the department. Performs other duties as assigned to support departmental goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist Operations Safety Representatives as needed. Perform audits as requested and support corporate Safety Audit program. Perform training as required. Conduct or assist with accident and incident investigations. Research and provide technical information regarding federal, state, and local regulations. Work on committees to develop and maintain PSM SOPs in compliance with applicable regulations. Research industry standards and best practices and make recommendations. Collaborate with managers and field safety specialists to build consistency in procedural understanding and regulatory application. Assist PSM Manager and staff of Local Operations Teams in fulfilling regulatory requirements. Oversee workflow processes for revision and certification of PSM compliance issues at local gas plants (Wild Basin and Bear Den). Assist with the MOC process by initiating eMOC, ensuring hazard review, and following up on action items to completion. Required Skills Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 6+ years of oil/gas or petrochemical safety experience in progressive positions or equivalent operational experience. Bachelor’s degree in industrial safety or related field, or progressive experience demonstrating leadership. Client‑driven solution provider. Computer skills: office applications and risk management applications. Mentor other safety personnel. Effective communication skills at multiple levels of the company. Microsoft Office Suite proficiency. Ability to learn company computer‑based programs. Experience developing safety and compliance procedures and documents. Strong organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications CSP, ASP, or other certification. Working Conditions Normal office conditions; must remain stationary 50% of time. Occasional overnight travel and visits to industrial settings may involve exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and loud machinery. An equal‑opportunity employer.
