Prep Cook — $20.00/hour — Ann Arbor, MI — choose your own hours Upshift is hiring Prep Cooks for the dining halls of Ann Arbor's biggest university and for restaurant, hotel and event kitchens across Ann Arbor. You are a W-2 employee of Upshift; we schedule you on the shifts you choose. About the job - Wash, peel, cut, chop and portion produce, proteins and pantry items to spec. - Prepare sauces, dressings, salads and cold items; batch-cook basics for the line. - Label, date and rotate product; keep walk-ins and prep areas clean and organized. - Shifts available now, mostly mornings and early afternoons, including weekends. Typical shift 5–8 hours. Schedule — you choose your own hours After a one-time sign-up, every open shift is visible in the Upshift app. Claim the ones that fit — a few mornings a week or steady full-time hours all semester — and change it week to week. No minimum, no penalty for not claiming. Pay and benefits - $20.00 per hour, shown on every shift before you claim it. - Clock in and out on your phone; paid by Upshift through payroll, fast. - Health, dental and vision insurance available after your first paycheck. - W-2 employee — taxes withheld, workers' comp covered. Not 1099, no fees to you. - Good ratings unlock more and higher-paying shifts over time. Requirements - Basic knife skills and some kitchen experience (prep, line, cafeteria, catering or quick-service). - 18 or older, with a smartphone. - Able to stand for a full shift and lift up to 50 lb. - Reliable transportation to campus recommended.
