As a Senior Software Engineer/Developer, you will perform as an individual contributor and team member focused on developing and refining a command-and-control platform used by a wide variety of stakeholders. Soliciting and incorporating user feedback is paramount in developing a superior product. Ideal candidates will have full stack development experience, with demonstrated skills developing front-end applications and user interfaces, as well as employing back-end technologies and programming languages.What You'll be OwningDesign and develop applications, tools, and user interfaces supporting advanced data processing and command-and-control workflowsEngage proactively with mission partners to understand operational use cases and convert high-level requirements into actionable features, work products, and technical specificationsCollaborate with internal and external engineering teams to define interface control documents (ICDs), subsystem behaviors, and integration patternsDevelop CONOPs, user guides, release notes, and technical artifacts supporting software delivery and stakeholder adoptionArchitect and optimize large scale data analysis pipelines using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, and distributed data technologiesEvaluate application architecture and code design, identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations that improve efficiency, scalability, and maintainabilityBuild and refine back end services and APIs that support high-performance data workflowsHelp guide testing strategies, diagnose complex issues, and ensure delivery of stable, high-reliability softwareMentor junior developers, foster a high performing engineering culture, and support professional growth across the teamWhat You Must HaveActive TS/SCI with polygraph7+ years of software engineering experience in fast-paced, collaborative environmentsStrong proficiency in Python and JavaExperience building React front end applications and Django back end servicesExperience with DevOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deploymentFull stack development experience across front end and back end systemsRecent experience building applications, analysis tools, or mission-focused softwareBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fieldWhat Would be Nice to HaveKnowledge of OpenSearch/Elasticsearch indexing, search, and analyticsDemonstrated ability to reverse engineer applications and understand legacy systemsExperience with messaging/task queues (Kafka, gRPC, Celery)Proficiency with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with databases or data stores (MariaDB, MySQL, ValKey, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, MongoDB)Experience with Open Telemetry (OTel) or similar observability frameworkFamiliarity with collaboration and issue tracking tools such as GitLab, Jira, and ConfluenceKnowledge of telecommunications and/or Internet protocolsPay Range: At GRVTY, we understand that compensation is influenced by many factors—such as geographic location, federal contract labor categories, wage rates, prior experience, skillsets, education, and certifications.
