Clinic Registered Nurse (RN): Oncology

Clinic RN MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center Des Moines Hematology Oncology is looking for a clinic RN to provide patient care in outpatient settings. Schedule Full time – 40 hours a week M-F 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Responsibilities Deliver safe, evidence‑based patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Coordinate care with other clinical staff and support patient and family education. Perform comprehensive patient assessments (physical, psychosocial, nutritional, functional, safety, spiritual, cultural, educational). Administer medications and treatments via multiple routes and document accordingly. Conduct nursing care, labs, diagnostics, specimen collection, phlebotomy, and limited radiology procedures following policies and universal precautions. Assist providers with patient care, phone/mail/fax communications, scheduling, consents, admissions, referrals, and outpatient procedures. Communicate and collaborate with physicians, staff, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding care plans and patient needs. Educate patients, families, and clinical staff on treatments, medications, test preparation, discharge, and health maintenance. Participate in staff meetings, committees, quality improvement, risk management, and performance improvement projects. Maintain documentation accuracy and completeness in EMR. Maintain and monitor supplies, equipment, medication stock, and office machines. Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergency patient needs and initiate emergency procedures. Perform other duties as needed and assigned by the manager. General Requirements Knowledge of and commitment to Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values. Proficiency in basic computer skills (Windows environment, web‑based navigation, e‑mail, MS Office). Work effectively with diverse groups in a collaborative environment. Education & Certification Active RN license in the state of Iowa (other state licenses acceptable via Compact where applicable). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire. Completion of Mandatory Reporter Abuse training specific to the population served within 3 months of hire. Complete any required specialty classes or certifications for the role.
