The Surgical ICU serves a Level 1 Trauma Center and treats approximately 3,000 Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, Spine, and General Surgery patients annually. The unit also serves as the comprehensive stroke ICU for the Hillcrest campus. Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and trauma technicians work as a compassionate team that places the greatest value on bedside care, driven by evidence‑based practice. Under general supervision, the SICU Nurse identifies and implements nursing interventions, evaluates results, directs other team members as assigned, promotes compliance with policies, and achieves trust in professional collegial relationships. While not required, a cover letter is highly recommended for this position. Minimum Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing. Valid California RN license. Current ART certification, or BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to obtain ART within six (6) months of hire date. Current PALS, or must obtain within six (6) months of hire date. At least two (2) years of acute care RN experience. Ability to function in a high‑paced environment and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to demonstrate individualized care to vulnerable populations. Preferred Qualifications BSN. RN experience within PCU, Trauma, and/or Neuro settings. Critical Care or Stroke certifications. Special Conditions Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call, and various locations based on the 24‑hour Medical Center's business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and a pre‑employment physical. The first 6 months of employment will consist of day and night shifts for training and orientation. Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII or CNIV level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $138,330 - $193,892 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $66.25 - $92.86.
