Project Site Safety Manager

Role The Project Site Safety Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, United States, responsible for overseeing health and safety on utility-scale solar construction projects. This role involves conducting regular site inspections, identifying hazards, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations and company EHS standards. The manager will develop and deliver safety training, maintain safety documentation, and lead toolbox talks and daily briefings with site personnel. Day-to-day tasks include investigating incidents and near-misses, recommending corrective actions, coordinating with project management and subcontractors on safe work plans, and monitoring the effectiveness of safety controls. The position also supports continuous improvement of site safety programs and fosters a culture of safety, accountability, and transparent communication across all project teams. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in Occupational Health and Industrial Safety, including application on large construction or renewable energy projects. Strong Environment Health and Safety (EHS) knowledge, with experience developing and implementing site-specific safety programs. Proficiency in Safety Training, including conducting orientations, toolbox talks, and targeted training for high-risk activities. Hands-on experience with Accident Investigation, incident reporting, root-cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and relevant New York state safety requirements; professional safety certifications (e.g., CSP, ASP, CHST, OSHA 30) preferred. Experience in construction, renewable energy, or heavy industrial environments; solar or electrical utility experience is an advantage. Ability to interpret technical drawings and method statements, and collaborate with engineering, construction, and subcontractor teams. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to influence behavior and promote a positive safety culture on site. High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
