SFS is looking for a Senior Principal Network and Services Systems Engineer to provide support to CBL Battle Lab Facility located at Fort Gordon GA. All work will be performed onsite. This contract will support the CBL mission to provide experimentation support to the C- CDID with dynamic network experimentation integrated with CO, DODIN-A, EW and IA through the Cyber Battle Lab's Experimentation Branch (EB), Environments Support Branch (ESB), and the Army Persistent Experimentation eNvironment (APEN) Cyber Enterprise Service Center (CESC). The CBL Experimentation Support contract will provide support in the form of experiments, assessments, analyses and network support that will validate proposed new technical solutions to resolve known Doctrine, Organization, Training, Material, Leadership & Education, Personnel, Facilities Policy (DOTMLPF-P) capability gaps within the CO, EW, Network, and IA force modernization lines of effort.Position SummaryThe Senior Principal Network and Services Systems Engineer serves as a technical leader responsible for the architecture, design, integration, implementation, and sustainment of complex enterprise and mission-critical network infrastructures and service platforms. This role provides strategic technical guidance, leads engineering efforts, and ensures network and service solutions meet performance, security, reliability, and scalability requirements. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, customers, and leadership to deliver secure and resilient network and systems solutions supporting business and operational objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Architecture & Engineering Design, develop, and implement enterprise-scale network architectures.Lead engineering efforts involving LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, cloud networking, data center, and hybrid environments.Develop network modernization and transformation strategies.Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architectural improvements.Create detailed network design documentation, diagrams, and technical specifications.Systems & Services Engineering Architect and integrate network services including: DNS, DHCP, IPAM, Directory Services, Load Balancing, VPN Services, Authentication Services, Network Monitoring PlatformsEnsure interoperability across systems, applications, and infrastructure components.Develop automation solutions to improve operational efficiency.Security & Compliance Ensure network and services architectures align with cybersecurity requirements.Implement security controls and best practices based on industry frameworks.Support security assessments, vulnerability remediation, and risk management activities.Collaborate with Information Assurance, ISSO, and cybersecurity teams.Technical Leadership Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for networking and infrastructure technologies.Lead technical reviews, design reviews, and architecture boards.Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.Operations & Performance Analyze network performance and capacity requirements.Lead root cause analysis for complex incidents.Develop disaster recovery and continuity strategies.Support high-availability and fault-tolerant architectures.Project & Program Support Lead large-scale infrastructure projects.Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.Develop project plans, schedules, and technical deliverables.Support proposal development and technical solutioning efforts.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.10–15+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, systems engineering, or infrastructure architecture.Experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale networks.Strong understanding of: Routing and Switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)Network SecurityCloud Networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)Data Center TechnologiesVirtualization PlatformsAutomation and Orchestration ToolsExperience with network monitoring and performance management solutions.Active Top Secret Security ClearancePreferred CertificationsCisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)AWS Certified Advanced Networking – SpecialtyCertified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer AssociateTechnical SkillsNetworking: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, SD-WAN, IPv6, VPN Technologies, Network SegmentationSystems & Infrastructure: Windows Server, Linux/Unix, VMware, Hyper-V, Container Technologies, KubernetesCloud Platforms: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google CloudAutomation: Python, PowerShell, Ansible, TerraformSecurity: Zero Trust Architecture, NIST Frameworks, Network Access Control (NAC), Identity and Access Management (IAM)Desired CompetenciesStrategic thinking and architecture planningTechnical leadership and mentoringComplex problem solvingExecutive-level communicationProject leadershipRisk managementCustomer engagementSFS is an equal opportunity employer regardless of race, color, religion, creed, sex, marital status, national origin, disability, age, veteran status, on-the-job injury, sexual orientation, political affiliation or belief.
