Pharmacy Manager & Compliance Leader

JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) is responsible for regulatory compliance and safe medication dispensing while leading pharmacy staff and optimizing workflow, ensuring high-quality patient care.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure full compliance with federal and state pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA policies, and all applicable standards. Maintain accurate and complete pharmacy records (controlled substances, inventories, logs, temperature records, etc.). Manage controlled substance compliance, including ordering, receiving, storage, dispensing, reconciliation, and reporting of discrepancies. Oversee pharmacy licensing, renewals, inspections, and audits. Implement and monitor policies and procedures related to medication safety and regulatory requirements. Review prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed. Monitor all postings onto patient profiles to ensure accuracy of drug allergies, interactions, duplicate therapy, rational drug therapy, and incompatibilities for better patient care. Check patient medication cassettes prior to delivery to confirm correct drug, dosage form, schedule, and strength. Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces likelihood of medical errors. Direct Pharmacy Department staff engaged in admixture, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceuticals. Answer questions and provide information to physicians, nurses, patients, and other healthcare professionals on appropriate use of medications, drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage. Assist in teaching programs (departmental, medical, nursing, community). Endorse policies and procedures of the department and of the hospital. Ensure maintenance and proper operation of equipment and supplies in the work areas. Maintain procedures concerning quality control, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste. Enter data into the computer system (pharmacy program), such as patient, prescribed medications, costs, and maintain patient profiles and charge system. Instruct students and other medical staff on matters pertaining to the Pharmacy Department. Review and monitor drug therapy that requires dosing adjustments as authorized by the physician. Provide pharmaceutical care to all ages of patients from newborns to the elderly, understanding dosage variations and finding appropriate information. Manage at least one to two members of the Pharmacy Department staff on a daily basis. Assist HR in the hiring process, train staff, plan, assign, and direct work, address complaints and resolve problems. Complete annual reviews for pharmacy staff. Ensure pharmaceutical preparations are sterile, properly packaged, labeled, and stored, and not outdated. Perform related duties as assigned by management.PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Actively check and respond to emails throughout the day. Complete all mandatory education within the given time-frame. Maintain regulatory requirements. Report to work on time and as scheduled. Wears identification while on duty; uses computerized punch time system correctly. Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community. Attend annual review and department in‑services as scheduled. Attend at least 75% of staff meetings; review all monthly staff meeting minutes. Actively participate in the department’s quality improvement activities. Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices and the employee handbook. Communicate the mission, vision and values of the organization as well as the focus of the department. Meet dress code standards for the department; appearance is neat and clean. All Ferry County Health employees are required to maintain confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy, state and federal regulations, including HIPAA.JOB KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS
Doctorate of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent. Graduated from an accredited School of Pharmacy. Active and unrestricted WA State Pharmacist licensure. Education in all age groups ranging from newborn to the geriatric population obtained either in school education or subsequent training. This is a safety‑sensitive position and subject to RCW 49.44.240(3)(g).OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.PHYSICAL AND / OR MENTAL DEMANDS
