Engineering Operations Technician

Job ID: 3196909 | Amazon Data Services, Inc. - A19 Data Center Engineering Technician – Join our dynamic team as a critical guardian of Amazon’s technological infrastructure, maintaining infrastructure uptime of 99.999% and ensuring seamless operation of mission‑critical data center equipment. Core Responsibilities Daily building rounds to monitor and record equipment performance (electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety) for 24/7 reliability. Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS). Troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA). Perform rack installs, decommissioning and periodic maintenance per SLA. Conduct preventive maintenance, root‑cause analysis, repair of electrical and mechanical equipment. Write technical documentation to support change management. Track work requests, manage to resolution, and execute projects from conception to completion. Provide on‑site support for contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors. Respond to site‑specific shift schedules, including up to 12‑hour shifts and possible rotations or on‑call duties. May support multiple locations. Basic Qualifications 1+ year electrical or mechanical experience. 1+ year experience with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, and/or weekends. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years data‑center engineering experience. Technical (Military/Trade School) training. Associate or higher education in related field. Essential Requirements Travel to and between data center locations as needed. Willingness to work temporarily at alternative sites during training or before the assigned facility is operational. Ability to travel more than 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active data center sites. Physical Requirements Lift and/or move up to 39 pounds independently; participate in group lifts of 40+ pounds. Perform construction tasks on ladders, maintain balance, use hands/fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push, and pull objects. Work in an environment requiring ear protection. Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay: 32.00 – 57.00 USD (USA, NV, Sparks).
