Overview

Responsibilities
- Process, embed, cut, and stain surgical and autopsy tissue for histologic examination according to established policies and procedures.
- Prepare and stain cytology specimens for pathologist examination.
- Prepare microscopic sections and documentation for diagnostic interpretation; manage supplies and equipment.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance program and implement specialized techniques as required for diagnostic purposes.
- Maintain accurate records of tissue processing, labeling, and handling; ensure compliance with safety and infection control standards.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, calibration, and documentation as part of daily lab operations.

Requirements
- Education: Bachelor of Science in medical technology, biology, and chemistry or HTL certification.
- Licenses/Certifications: New York State license required; Histotechnician AAS as noted in job requirements.
- Experience: 2+ years of histology experience.
- Ability to work in a hospital laboratory setting and adhere to standard safety and quality protocols.
