Senior Director, eDiscovery

Role Overview We are seeking an eDiscovery Senior Director to serve as the client’s point of contact and Bright Labs’ day‑to‑day leader in managing and executing projects and workstreams involving the identification, collection, processing, review, and production of electronic data relevant to litigation or regulatory investigations. The role is located in one of the following: New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Dallas, with a hybrid schedule. Responsibilities Functional Discovery Tasks Collections/Pre‑Processing: Assist clients with identifying, documenting, and preventing deletion of relevant data; develop solutions and strategies for data collection; coordinate forensic collections with the client and Bright Labs’ forensics team; create and recommend pre‑processing strategy; coordinate pre‑processing work with forensics team. Processing: Advise on data reduction strategies (deNIST, file extension filtering, date culling, search term filtering); coordinate processing work; analyze exception reports and recommend handling; communicate plan to client; perform quality review of search hit reports. Review: Assist clients in selecting appropriate technology; develop efficient workflows, batching strategy, technology configuration for review tiers; conduct Relativity training; advise on concept clustering, near duplicate identification, e‑mail threading, predictive coding; design customized reports; troubleshoot Relativity issues; coordinate custom development work; demonstrate proficiency with analytics platforms and AI‑assisted review tools. Production: Assist with written collateral for production process, such as motions, orders, or proposals; provide guidance on format, strategy, and timelines; work with clients to develop production identification strategy. Managerial Tasks Manage finances of engagements: develop, document, track budgets; adjust budgets; communicate changes; manage revenue forecasting and invoicing. Review and discuss expectations, scope, and timeline with clients and team. Manage project close‑out: data return, database archival, ongoing data retention implications. Provide clients and senior leaders with status updates and reports. Generate documentation to support processes throughout the lifecycle, including interview notes and drafting correspondence. Mentor and lead junior colleagues; support training and professional development. Assist in recruiting: screen resumes, interview candidates. Supervise associates, client personnel, and clerical support. Assist business development: build relationships, demonstrate technology, provide proposals and cost estimates; convert networking relationships to sales leads; identify cross‑sell opportunities; increase revenue on current engagements. Requirements BA/BS in MIS, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Law, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Technology, or a related field. 8+ years of experience as a consultant overseeing computer forensics and electronic discovery. Advanced decision‑making and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision. Confident interaction with senior management and lawyers/partners. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Flexibility to travel and work extended hours as required. Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. For roles in California, Colorado, Washington D.C., or New York, a reasonable estimate of compensation for this role will be disclosed. Compensation In the specified regions, the estimated base pay range is between $150,000 and $215,000. This range is a general estimate and not a promise of a particular wage. The range does not include additional benefits outside of salary and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials.
