We're one global team driven by our common purpose to deliver a better world. Join us. Job Description AECOM is seeking a Mid-level Archaeologist III for full-time employment in our Guam office. The Archaeologist is a core member of the Cultural Resources Practice with responsibility for successfully executing all aspects of project implementation. This is a full-time, salaried position that will report to the Honolulu AECOM Environmental Planning Technical Team Manager located in Honolulu. The candidate may serve as a Field Director or Principal Investigator, based on work experience and education. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Leading fieldwork (survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring), archival research, technical report writing, state and federal archaeological permitting, data collection and compilation, and GIS mapping. Gathering data and other information to be used in the preparation of environmental reports. Working both independently and under supervision of senior staff. Supervising project personnel in the field, office, and laboratory, as needed. Assisting project managers and preparing proposal scopes and budgets. Providing specialist technical advice on cultural resource management to clients. Liaising and developing positive relationships with clients and other stakeholders. Working understanding of, and positive relationship with, Guam Historic Preservation Office; knowledge of the locally specific requirements and expectations for cultural resources project reviews and other matters that may involve consultation with them. Knowledge of Guam territorial and U.S. federal environmental regulatory framework, including the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). Drawing conclusions and making recommendations based on analysis. Interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, comparing findings to relevant studies and territorial and federal regulations to ensure compliance. Handling multiple tasks and communicating priorities to Managers. Participating in marketing and business development efforts in pursuit of new clients and projects. Flexibility and willingness to support multiple projects, including travel. Interest and ability to support cultural resources projects outside Guam (especially in CNMI and Hawaiian Islands but also potentially international or other Pacific locations). Qualifications Minimum Requirements: BA/BS in Anthropology, Archaeology, History, or a closely related field. 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology and cultural resources management with experience working in Guam. Willingness/ability to travel and conduct fieldwork in Guam, Hawaii and CNMI. Valid driver's license is required. Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: MA/MS/PhD in Anthropology, Archaeology, History or related field. Meets the Secretary of Interior's professional qualification standards in Archaeology. Ability to pass background check for DBIDS card to conduct work on military installations Experience with Section 106 Consultation with the Guam Historic Preservation Office Preparation of Archaeological Monitoring and Data Recovery Plans for Guam and experience on Guam serving as an Archaeological Monitor and preparing Archaeological Monitoring Reports. 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity in the field or in the office. Relevant field experience in the Pacific Islands (and particularly Guam, CNMI, Hawaii). Experience preparing proposals and managing cultural resources tasks, including budgets, scheduling, and scopes of work. Advanced knowledge in one or more specialty scientific areas (e.g., lithic or faunal analysis; osteology; historical archaeology; geoarchaeology). Demonstration of excellent technical writing skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills. Ability to organize data in an efficient and clear manner. Working independently and as part of a team. Being innovative and a problem solver. Experience with cultural consultation and familiarity with CHamoru stakeholders. Experience working with interdisciplinary team of subject matter experts and planners. Proven ability to support proposal preparation and win work. Knowledge of regional and local (e.g., Guam, CNMI, Hawaii) regulations.
