Picture this: you clock in at a well-equipped Metal Fabrication Company in New Haven, IN . You review engineering drawings, dial in the right voltage, amperage, and gas flow, and lay down clean, consistent beads on stainless steel in the flat position. You check your work with calipers and rulers, record your settings and output, and keep your cell organized and safe. If you’re on a Welder A assignment, you might rotate to a robotic cell to tweak programs, perform leak tests, or help refine a prototype. That’s a typical day in this role.

• $21–$32 per hour , depending on skills and experience
• 1st and 2nd shifts available
• 5% shift premium for 2nd shift
• MIG and TIG welding experience preferred

• Perform MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel components in the flat position following engineering drawings and work instructions.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment so voltage, amperage, and gas pressure meet documented specifications.
• Prepare materials; position and secure components with fixtures, jigs, and clamps.
• Remove spatter, slag, burrs, and sharp edges to achieve the required finish.
• Inspect welds and assemblies for dimensions, appearance, and quality using rulers, calipers, and other gauges.
• Flag welding defects or production issues and collaborate on corrective actions.
• Accurately record production quantities, equipment settings, and inspection results.
• Conduct routine maintenance: change filler wire, gas cylinders, tips, and wire guides.
• For applicable Welder A assignments, operate and adjust robotic welding equipment, perform leak testing, and assist with prototype, repair, and process improvement work.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

• High school diploma or GED with relevant welding experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Welder B: Typically 1–3 years of related experience/training ; able to produce quality welds while building production speed.
• Welder A: Typically 2–4 years of related experience/training ; consistently meets quality standards and production targets.
• Experience with both MIG and TIG preferred; MIG-only candidates who are eager to learn TIG are welcome.
• Capable of demonstrating skills during an on-site MIG and TIG assessment using stainless steel in the flat position.
• Comfortable reading engineering drawings and technical instructions; basic GD&T knowledge required for Welder A.
• Proficient with hand tools and measuring equipment for final inspection.
• Positive attitude, strong attention to quality, and a collaborative mindset.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including standing, bending and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.
