We have an immediate need for a Wire Transfer Specialist.

This is a contract position; the duration will be from 3 to 6 months.

Location Long Beach, CA.

Position Summary

The Wire Transfer Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of domestic and international wire transfers while ensuring compliance with banking regulations, internal policies, and fraud prevention procedures. This role serves as a key member of the Operations team and works closely with branches, Treasury Management, Commercial Banking, Compliance, and customers to support the secure movement of funds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Process incoming and outgoing domestic and international wire transfers through Fedwire, SWIFT, and correspondent banking networks.
• Verify wire instructions, customer authorizations, account information, and supporting documentation.
• Review wire requests for compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), OFAC, and internal bank policies.
• Monitor transactions for suspicious activity and escalate potential fraud concerns.
• Investigate and resolve wire exceptions, rejects, returns, and payment discrepancies.
• Provide support to branches, Treasury Management, Commercial Banking, and customers regarding wire transfer inquiries.
• Ensure all wire transfers are processed accurately and within established service-level agreements.
• Maintain complete audit trails and documentation for all wire activities.
• Assist with wire reconciliations, balancing, and daily operational reporting.
• Participate in audits, regulatory examinations, and compliance reviews.
• Identify process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce operational risk.
• Maintain knowledge of current banking regulations, payment systems, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of banking operations, wire transfer, treasury operations, or payment processing experience.
• Experience processing domestic and international wire transfers.
• Knowledge of Fedwire, SWIFT, ACH, and banking payment systems.
• Understanding of BSA, AML, OFAC, UCC Article 4A, and banking compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and banking software platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in commercial banking or treasury management operations.
• Knowledge of fraud detection and payment risk management.
• Experience with Fiserv, Jack Henry, FIS, or similar core banking systems.
• Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or related banking certification preferred.
