About the Position

Job Title: PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medicine Specialty Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Current RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support; Current ACLS Must-Have: - Medical Surgical/Step Down experience - ICU experience preferred - Epic experience required Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations, and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plans during hospitalization and at the time of discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is essential. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Maintains good working relationships with colleagues. Possesses good verbal and written communication skills. Responds effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills are required.
