5-Axis CNC Mill Machinist
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for our machine shop located in Santa Ana, CA. The position is for the day shift from 5:30am to 2pm. The role requires expertise in setup and operation of CNC Mill machines, with a strong emphasis on manual machining and quality control. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of machining processes to ensure efficient and accurate production.
Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Planning, Quality, and Production teams to meet production goals.
• Setup and operate CNC machines using engineering drawings or customer-supplied .step files.
• Accurately interpret blueprints to determine machining requirements.
• Diagnose and resolve machine malfunctions and programming errors.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements in efficiency and quality.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in CNC machine setup and operation.
• Ability to interpret blueprints accurately.
• Experience with 3-axis verticals and 4-axis horizontals, with 5-axis experience being a plus.
• Strong understanding of CNC programming languages, including G-code and M-code.
• Comprehensive knowledge of FANUC, OKUMA, and KITAMURA controls.
• Expertise in blueprint interpretation and creation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of combined experience in machining for a machine shop.
• Experience in the Aerospace/Defense industry and adherence to industry specifications.
• Experience working with various types of metals.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. and compliance with I-9 and E-Verify requirements.

Work Environment
Work in a mid-sized machine shop with a current staff of around 45, including a machining team of 25 members and 4-5 programmers. The facility includes a deburr department, quality control, and shipping.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $93600.00/yr.
