Accounting Manager

Kforce is partnering with a client in the Saint Louis area to identify an Accounting Manager. This leadership role oversees all property-level accounting operations while developing and leading a high-performing team. The position is responsible for applying GAAP to analyze financial data, prepare and reconcile financial statements, post journal entries, support budgeting processes, and deliver accurate financial reporting to ownership. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage property accounting operations, including AP/AR, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and month-end close
- Review and approve financial transactions, reconciliations, and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Act as liaison for audits, providing documentation and resolving inquiries
- Partner with internal stakeholders to address financial reporting needs and ensure client satisfaction
- Hire, train, mentor, and manage accounting staff, driving performance and development
- Conduct regular check-ins, provide feedback, and support ongoing team growth
- Promote cross-training and build team capacity across key functions
- Oversee process documentation and maintain standardized procedures
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Establish and enforce internal controls and lead adoption of new systems and workflows
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Progressive accounting experience with prior leadership or supervisory responsibility
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with property accounting systems (e.g., Yardi or similar)
- Proven ability to train, develop, and manage staff
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communicator with ability to collaborate across teams and levels
- CPA or progress toward certification
- Experience with process documentation and SOP development
- Background supporting audits or real estate/property accounting
