Position Overview Professorial Faculty – Biology Department – Discipline-Based Education Researcher Brigham Young University, Provo, UT Job Details Type: Full-time Start Date: January 1, 2027 (negotiable) Qualifications Ph.D. in biology education, biology, or a closely related field completed by start date. Postdoctoral experience in biology education research is preferred. Demonstrated commitment to discipline-based education research and student-centered teaching. Deep knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices. Experience as an instructor in higher education (preferred). Relocate to and reside in Utah during employment. Responsibilities & Expectations Teach undergraduate and graduate courses aligned with departmental needs and candidate’s expertise. Undergraduate instruction may include introductory biology and/or upper-level courses related to the candidate’s disciplinary expertise. Graduate teaching includes co-leading the University Teaching Fellows program, a three-course sequence on advanced pedagogical methods, course design, and authentic university teaching experience. Develop an independent research program in discipline-based education research and pursue external funding. Produce high-quality scholarly work and engage students in the research process. Employ evidence-based, student-centered teaching practices; mentor undergraduate and graduate students through teaching, research, and other scholarly activities.
