Job Description
Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)

Hours per Shift: 2 shifts one week and 3 shifts the following week
Experience: One year of previous LTC experience required
License: Must hold a valid Nursing Assistant Certification
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
Must-Have: NYS Nursing Assistant Certification required


Description:
Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect resident care as defined by certification.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for patients.
Possesses the ability to assess and interpret data reflective of each patient's status and identify their requirements relative to age-specific needs.


Resident's Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) needs are met as outlined in the plan of care.
This includes hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, spray care, and documentation completed per protocol.


The resident's environment and safety are maintained according to the plan of care.
This involves answering call lights and alarms promptly, using safety mats and low beds, and maintaining cleanliness of the unit.
Behavioral and fall prevention measures are implemented.


The resident's nutritional needs are addressed as outlined in the plan of care.
This includes meal delivery, tray preparation, and adaptive feeding equipment.
Resident preferences and choices are honored, with documentation completed as required.


The resident's rehabilitative needs are met according to the plan of care.
This includes range of motion, ambulation, transfers, body alignment, and the use of assistive devices.


The resident's rights, refusals, and concerns are reported to the Charge Nurse in a timely manner.
Changes in the resident's physical, emotional, and psychosocial status are promptly communicated to the Charge Nurse.


Occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated.
Required tasks may involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
