About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Bossier City, Louisiana, 71111!

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: SICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Stroke experience Ventilator management Assistance with intubation/extubation Central venous line management and placement Foley catheter management Tube feedings via nasogastric tube or PEG Description: This unit has 10 beds. Travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care. Travelers must be separated for 1 year if previously a permanent staff member. Patient types include respiratory failure, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, diabetes, neuro cases (craniotomies, spinal surgery, traumatic brain injury), and surgical patients (general, total joints, urology, neuro). Patient ratios are 1 RN to 2 patients. Travelers will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. There is support on the unit with a charge nurse who will take a patient assignment. Phlebotomy services are not available on the unit. An IV/VAT team is available for PICC/midline placement. There is a resource nurse available. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. A hospitalist is in-house. Occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy services are available. The EMR used is Meditech Expanse. IV pumps used are Alaris. Medication dispensing is through Pyxis. Travelers may float to stepdown, stroke unit, or med-surg as needed for comfortability. Schedule includes rotation every other weekend. The work week will alternate between 3 and 4 days. Requests for time off are permitted up to 7 days, but full weeks must extend the contract. No call is required. Holiday expectations include working 2 out of 3 major holidays. Professionalism is a mandatory requirement, with no cell phone usage in patient care areas, and no earbuds or eating at desks. Scrub color is pewter, with specific t-shirt and jacket color requirements. Badges must be worn above the waist and in full view at all times. The unit culture is traveler friendly.
