Job Details Job Location: South Haven, MI 49090 Job Shift: Day Shift Job Summary The successful candidate for the Shipping position will verify and keep records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment by performing the following duties. Shipping I – Entry Level Shows ability to accurately count items, understand unit of measures Must be able to accurately read product orders, safely operate and become certified in both forklift and scissor lifts All U.S. invoicing duties: printing, separating, matching, distributing invoices Read computer files or gather records such as purchase orders, sales tickets, and charge slips to compile needed data Print packing list for orders shipped and generate back orders at time of original order shipment Wrap and bundle tubing for orders as needed Package parts as needed to fulfil the workorder Affix shipping labels on packed cartons, post weights and shipping charges, affix postage, bind containers with tape when required Develop and maintain effective working relationships with personnel in other departments to ensure proper coordination Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications Make sure all packages have the correct amount of padding so that it is insurable through our carrier Shipping II – Skilled Level Must meet all level 1 requirements Determine method of shipment, prepare bills of lading and oversee and assist loading operations by tier lift truck or manually Load/Unload branch trucks (flatbeds) Shipping III – Advanced Level Must meet all level 1 requirements Must meet all level 2 requirements Comfortable giving direction and/or leading peers Shows interest in learning additional skills Shows good decision-making skills without supervision Great people skills Shipping – Lead Position Must meet all level 1, 2, and 3 requirements Exhibits strong potential for advancement into a leadership role Possesses at least four of the following leadership skills Leadership Skills Clear and Direct Communication Active Listening Problem‑Solving and Decision‑Making Technical Expertise Team Trust and Influence Proactive Time Management Safety Awareness Quality Focus Ability and willingness to cross train department employees and new employees Qualifications Strong attendance and dependability, consistently reporting to work on time and completing assigned tasks accurately Maintain a clean and organized work environment, follow all company policies and procedures, apply a high level of attention to detail and focus Work collaboratively with team members to support productivity and operational efficiency Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED, or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form Certificates, Licenses Must be able to pass forklift certification test and drive a forklift Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear Frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Occasionally required to sit Frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Work Environment Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, and vibration Safety Follow all safety directives and protocols at all times and help identify potential hazards or violations that should be addressed Quality Maintain a constant focus on quality assurance and continuous quality improvement Other duties as assigned may be performed to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
