Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process. Supplemental Information: Licenses and Certificates: Valid driver license is required at time of application. Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicant's suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima Some positions require a valid Arizona Class D driver license at the time of application or appointment. Some positions require a valid Arizona commercial driver license (CDL) with appropriate endorsement(s) at the time of appointment, or prior to completion of an initial/promotional probation period. Positions requiring a CDL are also subject to applicable State of Arizona and federal standards, rules, and regulations on physical requirements including drug and alcohol testing. Some positions require Arizona certification as an herbicide/pesticide applicator or backflow device inspector/repair person or installer, etc. at the time of appointment or prior to completion of an initial/promotional probation period. Failure to obtain/maintain the required licensure shall be grounds for termination. Special Notice Items: The ability to obtain a jail pass is required. The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer, pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Some positions may require satisfactory completion of a personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies, due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities, records, and communication systems. Some positions carry the risk of exposure to infectious diseases, blood-borne pathogens, asbestos or wastewater products, therefore special medical screening prior to or during employment may be necessary to assure employee health and safety.
Physical/Sensory Requirements: A post-job-offer physical is required. Some positions require the ability to: lift and carry up to seventy-five pounds; safely operate assigned vehicles and other powered equipment; work in extremes of heat, humidity, dust, cold; safely wear required safety clothing/equipment; work with on in the presence of obnoxious odors; work with noxious or potentially hazardous chemicals, compounds or products; ascend and descend ladders and stairs to reach and work upon elevated or below-grade work platforms and job sites; differentiate between colors. Frequently required to lift, push or pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds. This position will require a post-job offer physical and/or drug screen, which may include respirator fit test. Working Conditions: Working conditions will be determined by the position.

- Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
- Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.
- Performs skilled analysis, repair, and maintenance of equipment, systems, and vehicles;
- Leads fabrication and modifications of equipment, systems, and facilities based on verbal instructions, sketches, or technical drawings;
- Inspects, services, and maintains tools, equipment, and vehicles;
- Conducts quality-control analysis on equipment and systems, implementing necessary corrective actions for optimal performance;
- Inspects, approves, or certifies the work of others, if certified or authorized;
- Maintains detailed records of activity, operations, service, and usage for equipment, vehicles, and systems;
- Prepares oral and written activity reports and estimates for complex operations, maintenance, and special projects;
- Prepares sketches and drawings to communicate work plans to supervisors, subordinates, and contractors;
- Coordinates activities with other units, agencies, or contractors to ensure efficient resource use and minimize disruptions;
- Monitors contractor performance, including goods and services provided;
- Conducts on-the-job training for employees in the assigned work-unit;
- Manages the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with safety protocols;
- Maintains security and accountability for all tools, equipment, and materials, especially in sensitive environments (e.g., medical, law enforcement, correctional settings);
- Ensures the use of safety and personal protective equipment and implements work-site traffic control procedures;
- Oversees the maintenance and care of turf grasses, trees, and ornamental shrubs, including pest control, fertilization, and addressing plant health issues.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in general building maintenance: Repairing or replacing commercial/institutional-grade plumbing, electrical, and HVAC equipment and fixtures. Troubleshooting various building hardware and specialty equipment. Evaporative cooling tower maintenance. Utilizing power tools and drain cleaning equipment. Knowledge of PPE and safety protocols. Participating in aggressive preventative maintenance programs.
- Experience with/knowledge of repairing or replacing commercial/institutional-grade plumbing fixtures to include faucets, sinks, water closets, flushometers, urinals and waterless units. Reading and interpreting rough drawings and mechanical blueprints.
- Experience with/knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing air handling equipment: bearings, shafts, fans, pulleys, dampers, belts, chilled and hot water coils. Experience performing filter changes, lubricate, inspect, and document HVAC and chilled water equipment. Experience calibrating or replacing pneumatic and low voltage thermostats.
- Experience servicing and repairing commercial lighting fixtures, light controls, switches, and receptacles. Experience troubleshooting electrical motors and motor control centers. Experience replacing a variety of electrical motors and associated components. Experience with lock out tag out compliance procedures and understand electrical schematics. Experience using and understanding voltage and amperage meters.
