Management Trainee

Management Trainee – Non Exempt

CED's Management Training Program is a selective leadership program with a heavy focus on sales. It's designed to teach every aspect of the electrical wholesale business in order to manage a multi-million dollar location upon completion of the training. On-the-job training lasts 2-2.5 years and includes progressive training phases in the warehouse, counter sales, accounts payable/accounts receivable, purchasing, inside sales, project management, inventory management and outside sales. Throughout the program, trainees attend multiple classes in electrical products, sales and management. Classes are held throughout the country and facilitated by CED and its company partners. This training program helps to equip trainees to be future leaders of CED. Geographic flexibility anywhere within the Chicago District is required for this position. Starting location: Bensenville, IL, Bradley, IL, or Champaign, IL--must be willing to relocate in the Chicago metro area (including NW Indiana and Central Illinois) after the first year. Reports to: Training Manager

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Bachelor's Degree (business preferred)
• Current, valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Authorization to work in the United States (without requiring work authorization sponsorship by CED now or in the future)
• Geographic flexibility and willingness to relocate throughout CED's Chicago District (Chicagoland, NW Indiana, Central Illinois)
• Reliable transportation to and from work locations

Preferred Qualifications

• 4 year College degree - will consider related experience in lieu of degree
• Strong negotiation skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software
• Leadership experience in a formal setting
• Sales experience
• Experience in a blue-collar work environment
• Detail oriented
• Ability to solve problems
• Must be a self-starter who can handle a heavy volume of work and be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time

Working Conditions: Conditions vary based on the trainee's current segment of the training and will include warehouse, office and external environments. During some segments, activities will include lifting, sorting, standing, possible extreme heat/cold conditions. Office segments may include sitting for extended periods. Various segments will include some business travel – both by car and by air.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Essential Job Functions: Learning all aspects of the CED business, inside and outside sales with contractor customers, working in a warehouse and office setting, developing leadership and sales skills, attending classes in various locations, communicating – both written and spoken – in English.

Compensation Range: The compensation range for this position is $61000 to $65000 annually.
