Our Hardware Engineering, Air Launched Effectors Department is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer/Designer to join the StormBreaker team at our Tucson, AZ facility. Responsibilities Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components and sub‑assemblies for tactical missile systems in accordance with system requirements. Lead mechanical engineering teams and collaborate across multiple disciplines with structural, thermal, materials, quality, safety, supply chain, operations, and program leadership. Provide support to the factory and suppliers for product development, obsolescence, and troubleshooting domestically and internationally. Interface with other engineering disciplines, non‑technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges. Work with limited supervision, meeting commitments for schedule, financial, and technical goals. Support and participate in design peer reviews, resolve action items, and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions. Apply knowledge of First Article Inspection (FAI) and support Quality engineers throughout the process. Utilize Raytheon hardware tools and processes and apply expertise in technical problem solving. Mentor and guide a team of engineers within the program. Qualifications Degree in STEM or related field with a minimum of 8years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5years of experience. Experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSIY14.5. Proficiency in Creo (Pro/E) or similar 3‑D solid‑modeling software. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written; proven technical writing and oral communication ability. Experience with PTC Windchill Product Data Management or equivalent configuration/data management software. Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively within a team. Experience in a technical leadership role across the development lifecycle. Advanced degree in mechanical, manufacturing engineering, or hardware systems design preferred. Experience working on development and production programs for military applications. Experience supporting full‑rate production of missile components and assemblies in a factory setting. Knowledge of military and commercial specifications. Leadership experience managing small teams (4‑6 people). Ability to travel to government and supplier facilities in support of program activities, domestically and internationally. Experience leading trade studies, requirements development and management, integration and test of mechanical engineering products. Experience working across multiple functional and disciplinary organizations to resolve technical challenges. Experience creating, releasing, and updating mechanical technical data packages; reviewing and interpreting technical documentation in a production environment. Demonstrated team player, self‑driven leader with excellent collaboration skills. Experience working with suppliers that develop mechanical products, machined parts, and electronics. Experience in mechanical sub‑systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, energetics principles, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development. Supplier interaction and supplier management experience, both domestically and internationally. Understanding of EXIM and global trade processes. Familiarity with JCAs.
