Sales and Use Tax Manager

Indirect Tax ManagerOur client, a respected, growth-minded manufacturer and distributor, is seeking an Indirect Tax Manager who brings sharp technical command and a steady, strategic hand. This isn't a narrow compliance role; it's a seat at the table where tax strategy directly shapes how the business manages risk and supports growth.You'll own tax compliance end to end, from federal, state, and local filings to audit management. That means coordinating tax planning and audits, monitoring an ever-shifting regulatory landscape, and bringing clear, well-reasoned analysis to leadership when it matters most.You'll also partner closely with finance, accounting, and operations, and support M&A activity through tax due diligence.What you'll do:Own tax compliance across income, sales/use, property, and other business taxesCoordinate and manage preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, working with internal resources and external advisorsMonitor evolving tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the businessDevelop and implement tax planning strategies that optimize efficiencyManage audits and inquiries from tax authorities, and maintain accurate tax recordsPartner with finance, accounting, and operations to ensure accurate, timely tax reportingSupport M&A activity through tax due diligenceWhat you'll bring:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred5+ years of experience in corporate tax or a related finance roleRequired experience in multi-state tax compliance and planningExperience with ERP platforms is a plusStrong technical knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax lawsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the judgment to act on themStrong communication and interpersonal skills that build trust across teamsComfort operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting prioritiesCandidate must be authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship requirements. Candidate must be commutable to Winston-Salem, NC on a daily basis.
