Production Maintenance Technician Full Time Westbrook, ME, US 2 days ago Requisition ID: 1014 Salary Range: $30.00 To $40.00 Hourly Position Title: Production Maintenance Technician Department: Operations Reports To: Operations Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Effective Date: September 16, 2026 Position Summary: The Production Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and facility systems to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on position with no direct reports. The role works closely with Production, Quality, and Operations to minimize equipment downtime, complete preventive maintenance, and quickly resolve mechanical, electrical, and equipment-related issues. Essential Functions: Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions) Perform hands-on troubleshooting, repair, adjustment, and maintenance of production equipment, machinery, and facility systems. Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production issues to minimize downtime and keep production running efficiently. Develop and perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities, including inspections, lubrication, adjustments, parts replacement, and equipment testing. Maintain and repair equipment such as fillers, packaging equipment, conveyors, pumps, motors, compressors, water systems, and other manufacturing machinery. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic controls-related issues and determine the appropriate repair or corrective action. Maintain accurate maintenance records, including completed work orders, preventive maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and equipment issues. Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend improvements to increase reliability, safety, and production efficiency. Assist with equipment installation, modifications, upgrades, and startup of new or existing machinery. Maintain an organized inventory of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies and communicate when replacements or additional materials are needed. Work with outside contractors and service providers when specialized repairs, inspections, or installations are required. Support facility maintenance needs, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, building repairs, and general upkeep as needed. Follow all company safety, quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements and maintain a clean and organized maintenance area. Provide support during production schedule changes, equipment startups, and other operational needs, including occasional after-hours response when necessary. Minimum Qualifications: 3+ years of hands-on industrial, manufacturing, production, or equipment maintenance experience preferred. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills with the ability to diagnose problems and determine practical solutions. Working knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Ability to read equipment manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests based on production needs and urgency. Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment safety and reliability. Ability to safely use common hand and power tools and maintenance equipment. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and lift, bend, climb, and work around machinery as required. Physical Requirements / Work Conditions: Normally standing/walking with freedom of movement on a regular basis. Ability to lift 50 lbs. 60+ lbs. require lift with partner. Frequent physical activity requires walking, climbing, bending, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting and stooping. Must be able to work overtime as necessary.
