Patient Access Rep Emergency

Job Overview Employment Type: Part‑time Shift: Day Shift; 8 am–8:30 pm or 11 am–11:30 pm, 2–12 hours per week, rotating, every other weekend, holiday rotation. Location: Trinity Health Oakland, Emergency Department. Minimum rate of pay: $16.92 per hour. Position Purpose Provides patient‑focused customer service within the Emergency Department. Performs outpatient and/or inpatient registration and insurance verification functions; collects patient financial liability payments and ensures patients meet financial requirements, including Medicare medical necessity, payer pre‑certifications and referrals. Provides general information to hospital users, patients, families, and physician offices. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification within one (1) year of hire. Essential Functions Research, collect, and analyze information. Identify opportunities, develop solutions, and lead through resolution. Collaborate on performance improvement activities for program efficiency and patient experience. Distribute analytical reports. Use multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports, and develop educational materials. Synthesize and analyze data, provide detailed summaries including graphical presentations illustrating trends and recommending practical options while considering business strategy and leadership decisions. Leverage program and operational data and measurements to define and demonstrate progress, ROI, and impacts. Maintain working knowledge of applicable regulations, compliance program, code of conduct, and other policies to ensure ethical and professional behavior. Additional Functions of a Patient Access Representative II Performs all aspects of the Patient Access Rep I role and is cross‑trained, performing activities in Pre‑Service, Emergency Department, and/or Bed Desk. Required Qualifications for Patient Access Representative II Minimum of two (2) years of hospital registration or insurance verification experience. Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic coding, and procedural coding. Ability to explain insurance benefits to patients and providers.
