As a Respiratory Therapist CRT PRN you will provide respiratory care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients. Introduction We have an exciting PRN opportunity for a Respiratory Therapist CRT PRN. The role involves initiating, assessing, and evaluating all forms of respiratory therapy, including bronchodilators, chest physical therapy, oxygen therapy, and non‑invasive and invasive ventilator care. Job Summary Under general supervision, you will use your knowledge of respiratory anatomy, physiology, and pathology, and the design and operation of respiratory therapy equipment to provide appropriate care to patients of all ages. Responsibilities Know and understand the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and Respiratory Care Department. Verify and sign all new orders for respiratory care, ensuring orders comply with departmental policy. Recognize, interpret, and record signs and symptoms of respiratory dysfunction and medication side effects, especially those requiring physician notification. Initiate and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other life‑support procedures; ensure adequate airway management and assist with intubation. Prevent contamination and infection transfer through appropriate aseptic techniques. Know ventilation mechanics and ventilator function. Know the principles of airway maintenance, including endotracheal and tracheotomy care. Use equipment safely for administering oxygen and other therapeutic gases, humidification, nebulization, and medication. Understand arterial blood gas analysis principles and obtain samples competently. Assist in secretion removal with hydration, breathing and coughing exercises, postural drainage, therapeutic percussion/vibration, and mechanical clearing via suctioning. Follow procedures and observations during and after extubation. Recognize and attend to psychosocial needs of patients and families. Qualifications Prefer 1 year experience as a therapist in an acute care facility. Graduate of an AMA‑approved school of Respiratory Care. Full or temporary Texas license as a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner and certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care. Demonstrated current clinical competence, completing the Annual Skills Checklist. Ability to handle stressful situations and stand for long periods. Strong interpersonal skills with patients and peers. Knowledge of age‑specific patient needs, including immobility hazards, communication challenges, patient transfer, and activity intolerance.
