Volunteer Description Volunteers at Intermountain Healthcare serve in a variety of meaningful capacities that support our patients, visitors, and staff. As an unpaid volunteer, you contribute valuable time and talent that truly make a difference in our organization. Volunteer Program Requirements A minimum six‑month consecutive commitment. 3–4 hours weekly. Consistent attendance. 16 years of age. Work alone and independently. Good communication and listening skills. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to work with diverse populations. Physical mobility (walking, bending, standing). Adequate hearing and vision. Sensitive to patient and family situations. Volunteer opportunities are available in a variety of service areas based on current need, including: Guest Services – Engaging with individuals consistently, helping them find their way within the facility and to their appointments, maybe even escort them in a wheelchair. Department Support – Assisting patients and staff on an individual nursing unit. Surgical Waiting Room – Keeping guests updated regarding their patient having surgery. Emergency Room – Assisting patients/staff in the Emergency Room, meeting their needs. Gift Shop Assistant – Assisting customers with their purchases, pricing items, and using the cash register. Music – Playing an instrument in the Hospital Lobby. Transportation (Golf Cart) – Escorting guests within the facility and the campus. Courtesy Cart – Offering items of comfort to patients within the hospital.
