PositionPurpose: TheVOLLERSConstructionSuperintendentprovidesthefieldleadershipnecessarytoplan,organize,direct,coordinateandcontroldailyjobsiteactivities.Thepositionisresponsibleforexecutingtheworksafely,efficiently,andinaccordancewiththeprojectplans,specifications,schedule,budget,qualitystandards,andcontractualrequirements. WorkinginpartnershipwithProjectManagementandothermembersoftheoperationsteam,theSuperintendentleadsfieldpersonnelandsubcontractors,coordinatesresources,resolvesoperationalissues,andmaintainsproductiverelationshipswithclientstosupportsuccessfulprojectcompletion. Responsibilities: SafetyLeadership Ensuresthatpropersafetyplanningisincludedinallpre-jobplanningandconsideredforemostinthedailyoperationsbycreatingandmaintainingacultureinwhicheveryemployeeandsubcontractorisexpectedtoworksafelyandisheldaccountableforsafebehavior. Conductrequiredsafetymeetings,pre-taskplanning,andjobhazardanalysis. EnsureemployeesandsubcontractorsuserequiredPPEandcomplywithOSHArequirements,site-specificrequirements,andcompanysafetypolicies. Promptlyidentify,address,documentandcommunicateunsafeconditions,incidents,nearmisses,andcorrectiveactionincoordinationwiththeSafetyCommittee. ProjectPlanning&Execution Superviseaprojectonyourownandeffectivelycommunicatewiththeclient,projectteams,andotherinternalstakeholders. Demonstratetheabilitytomovebetweenprojectsandmanagemultiplecrewsifrequired. Createdailyandthree-weekschedulesinaccordancewiththeoverallprojectscheduleandcommunicateexpectationstoappropriatepersonnel. Maintaintheappropriateamountoflabortostreamlineprojectcompletioninthemostefficientmannerpossible. Planequipmentneeds,ordermaterials,andotherjobsiteresourcestosupportefficientandtimelyexecution. Identifyproductivityoroperationalissuesandtakecorrectiveactiontominimizescheduledelaysandcostimpacts. Ensuretasksareperformedinaccordancewithapprovedplans,specifications,submittals,permits,contractrequirements,andqualitystandards. Willingnesstoparticipateasaworkingmemberofacrewifnecessary. Cost&ProductivityManagement Monitordailyproduction,labor,equipmentutilization,quantities,andjobcostsagainsttheprojectestimate,budget,andschedule. ReviewdailyandweeklycostandproductivityreportswiththeSeniorSuperintendent,ProjectManager,orProjectExecutivetoidentifyareasrequiringattention. Developandimplementcorrectivemeasureswhenproductionorcostsdonotmeetexpectations. Properlycodelabor,materials,trucking,andothercoststosupportaccuratereporting. Protectcompanyresourcesbypromotingtheefficientuse,care,andsecurityoflabor,equipment,tools,andmaterials. ProjectCoordination&Communication Representthecompanyprofessionallyinprojectmeetings,ownerorcontractormeetings,andinternalstrategysessions. Maintainandbuildeffectiveworkingrelationshipswithclients,owners,inspectors,subcontractors,vendors,fieldpersonnel,andotherprojectstakeholders. Responsibleforallprojectsurveylayoutandcompleteas-builtplandataincollaborationwiththeappropriatesurveyandprojectpersonnel. Managethefieldaspectsofallsubcontractors,includingsafety,schedule,quality,productivity,andcompliance. Coordinaterequiredinspections,testing,permits,anddocumentationwiththeprojectteamandappropriateoutsideparties. DocumentationandChangeManagement Performallprojectinformationreportingasrequired,includingbutnotlimitedtodailyreporting,productionreports,dailycrewschedule,andthree-weeklookaheadschedules,safetydocumentation,materialandtruckingtickets,As-builtinformation,photographs,andothersupportingdocuments. IdentifyandmanageT&MandChangeOrderwork. Supportpunchlistcompletion,demobilization,turnoverandcloseoutactivities. ConstructionTechnology&Systems UnderstandandimplementGPSandmachinecontrolsystemsasapplicable. Effectivelylearnandusecompany’sprojectmanagement,fieldreporting,timecard,scheduling,documentmanagement,andothersystemsasneeded. Leadership&WorkforceDevelopment Leadforemanandcrewsbyestablishingclearexpectations,communicatingpriorities,monitoringperformance,andholdingteammembersaccountable. Assistinthedevelopmentofforemen,laborers,operatorsandotherfieldemployeesthroughcoaching,feedback,andcross-training. Identifyhigh-potentialemployeesandcommunicatewithcompanyleadership. AddressperformanceissuesincoordinationwithHRwhenadditionalactionisneeded. Continuedevelopingpersonalleadershipcapabilities. Knowledge&Skills: Sevenyearsofrelevantheavycivilconstructionexperience,includingatleastfiveyearsasaForeman. Thoroughknowledgeofheavycivilconstructionmethodsincludingsitework,utilities,grading,excavation,orotherrelevantscopes. Abilitytoreadandunderstandallcivil,structural,andarchitecturalplans,specifications,contractualrequirementsaswellasknowledgeofthematerials,equipment,andtoolsnecessarytocompletethework. ProficientinPCsoftwareandsystemssuchasMicrosoftOffice;PDF,Emailing,UsingSpreadSheets,OnlinePlan&DocumentStorage,MicrosoftProject(orotherschedulingplatforms). Strongverbalandwrittencommunicationskills. Strongleadership,organizational,planning,problemsolving,andtimemanagementskills. Certifications: OSHA30-hourConstruction OSHA40HourHazwoper Currentannual8-hourHazwoperrefreshertraining CPR/AEDandBasicFirstAid AdditionalRequirements: Abilitytoworkatactiveconstructionsitesinvariedweatherandenvironmentalconditions.
