Development Associate

End of Life Choices New York is a non‑profit organization with a mission to expand end of life options, and improve end of life care, so all New Yorkers can have the best possible quality of life at the end of life, including access to medical aid in dying. We provide free support to those preparing their advance directives, serving as a caregiver, or who are approaching the end of life themselves. We offer education and training to the general public and healthcare professionals on topics such as advance care planning, hospice, palliative care, and patient rights. We are seeking an organized, detail‑oriented Development Associate to join our team. In this role, you will take ownership of our donor database (Bloomerang) and help secure funding through basic grant writing. This is an early‑career position designed for someone with 1–2 years of experience who wants to build a strong foundation in nonprofit fundraising. For the right candidate, there is strong potential for this role to grow into a full‑time position based on job performance and organizational success. We will provide comprehensive training, clear guidance, and a senior‑level mentor to help you succeed and grow. Key Responsibilities Database Management & Entry: You will enter daily gifts, keep donor contact information clean, and run basic reports. Grant Writing: Draft basic grant proposals, research new foundation funders, and help gather data for grant reports using our existing templates, as well as maintain a grants calendar. Our goal is to grow our grants from 6 to 10 per year. Fundraising Appeals Support: Under the direction of the Executive Director or mentor, assist with the execution, project management, and drafting of materials for up to three fundraising campaigns per year, including the end‑of‑year appeal. Donor Stewardship: Call and/or write timely thank‑you letters and emails to our supporters. Event Support: Assist with tracking event RSVPs and logistics. Other duties as assigned to support the growth and mission of the development team.
