Job Description:

Education/ Certification Mandatory:

• Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

Work Experience Mandatory:

• Prior experience performing pharmaceutical assistance/pharmacy technician duties in a healthcare or pharmacy environment.
• Candidate must be able to perform pharmacy-related technical and clerical duties, including medication preparation, inventory management, medication delivery, and related support functions under pharmacist supervision.

Education/Certifications Nice to Have:

• Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP).

Work Experience Nice to Have:

• Experience working with the Pyxis MedStation System or other automated medication dispensing systems.
• Experience conducting medication room inspections and ensuring medication storage areas comply with applicable pharmacy, hospital, HHSC, and Texas State Board of Pharmacy requirements.
• Experience with manual and automated medication repackaging, including preparing and labeling medications for dispensing and pharmacist final verification.
• Experience with pharmacy inventory management, including receiving, organizing, monitoring, and maintaining medication supplies.
• Experience preparing medications for pharmacist final check and delivering medications to patient care areas.
• Experience performing pharmacy technician clerical and technical duties in a hospital or healthcare pharmacy environment.
• Experience working within established pharmacy policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and medication safety standards.

References/Certificates/Diplomas Required:

• Current Texas State Board of Pharmacy Pharmacy Technician registration/license; valid photo ID; negative PPD results within the last 12 months.

Roles And Responsibilities:

• Manage pharmacy inventory.
• Prepare medications for pharmacist final check.
• Deliver medications to patient areas.
• Conduct medication area inspections.
• Provide technical assistance.
• Perform clerical duties.
• Provide guidance to others as needed.
• Work under limited supervision using initiative and independent judgment within Texas State Board of Pharmacy requirements.
• Adhere to professional, legal and ethical standards and all applicable HHSC, hospital, facility and TSBP policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain a current Pharmacy Technician registration/license with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy throughout the assignment.
