About the role A passionate, organized and seasoned self‑starter publicist to step into a client and media‑facing role supporting beauty, dermatology, and aesthetics clients through strategic media relations, and day‑to‑day media relations and account management. The candidate will own media outreach, manage press opportunities from pitch to placement, ideate and execute events and activations, and serve as a key point of contact for both clients and media contacts. Key responsibilities Develop and execute PR strategies and media plans for beauty, dermatology, aesthetics clients, aligned with their business and brand goals. Write and edit core PR materials, including press releases, media alerts, pitches, briefing documents, bios, and talking points, tailored to consumer, trade, and national/regional outlets. Proactively pitch story ideas, product launches and experts to print, digital, and broadcast media; maintain ongoing relationships with beauty, lifestyle, and health editors, writers, and producers. Manage day‑to‑day media relations: tracking requests, coordinating interviews, preparing clients, and ensuring timely follow‑up and coverage delivery. Support and oversee press initiatives for events (in‑office appointments, launch events, conferences, partnerships), including calendars, media invites, RSVPs, run‑of‑show, and on‑site coordination as needed. Monitor media, oversee the compilation/distribute bi‑monthly/quarterly clip reports, and pull coverage highlights for clients; maintain organized tracking documents. Prepare clients for interviews and speaking opportunities by drafting briefing docs, anticipated Q&A, and key messaging. Contribute to account strategy discussions, brainstorms, and new business decks with creative ideas and media insights. Handle or oversee general account management projects: agendas, recaps, status documents, timelines, and light project management to keep deliverables on track. Qualifications Preferred location/s: New York TriState area or Greater Los Angeles area, with the ability to attend in‑person meetings, events, and client appointments as needed on either coast. 2‑4 years of PR agency or in‑house experience, ideally within beauty, dermatology, aesthetics, wellness, or lifestyle. Proven experience securing press coverage across digital, print, and/or broadcast outlets (beauty/lifestyle/health strongly preferred). Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to shift tone across consumer, trade, and professional audiences. Established media relationships or demonstrate ability to quickly build and nurture relationships with editors, writers, freelancers, and producers. Comfort managing multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines in a fast‑paced, service‑oriented environment. Detail‑oriented, proactive, and highly organized, with strong follow‑through and communication skills. Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience. Familiarity with Zoom, Google Workspace, and project management tools such as Asana or Monday. Able and willing to travel seasonally or quarterly, as needed. Preferred experience Experience working with dermatologists, plastic surgeons, med spas, or other clinical experts as media‑facing talent. Familiarity with tools like MuckRack, Cision, Meltwater, or similar media databases and monitoring platforms. Work style and logistics Full‑time role, Monday-Friday, with occasional flexibility needed around events, launches, or time‑sensitive media opportunities. Can be consultant 1099.
