Make an impact as a Special Education Teacher by supporting elementary students through dynamic contract opportunities for the full 2026-2027 school year. Based near Jersey City, NJ, this role offers the chance to develop and implement tailored educational strategies for diverse learners while collaborating with dedicated professionals across multiple school locations. You’ll spend your days (8 am – 4 pm) empowering a caseload of 30 to 40 elementary-aged students, ensuring they receive the individualized attention and evaluation they need to thrive.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid New Jersey Special Education teaching certification (SPED/Learning Disability Teacher).
- NJ Tech Certification required.
- Demonstrated experience conducting educational evaluations for students.
- Passion for fostering academic and social development within diverse elementary populations.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills, adaptable to working in multi-location environments.
Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and support for students identified with special needs, modifying curriculum and lessons to maximize engagement and reach.
- Conduct thorough educational and behavioral assessments, using evaluation results to inform Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and intervention strategies.
- Collaborate with families, general education teachers, and support staff to build supportive learning environments across Port Redding, Indiana Ave, Claremont Ave, and Kennedy Park sites.
- Maintain accurate records, document student progress, and adapt plans as needs evolve throughout the school year.
- Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and ongoing communication with home base administration at Colonial Middle School.
