Physical Therapist

This position requires the delegation of responsibilities to the Physical Therapist Assistant and Aides. Activities of this role are patient-focused and involve assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation according to physical therapy standards, physician orders, and established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the patient's function by performing formal and informal testing measures to determine skeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
• Develop a goal-specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient's tolerance for the treatment plan.
• Submit a written treatment regime to be included as part of the plan of treatment authorized by and coordinated with the physician, updating as necessary to reflect changes in patient status.
• Devise a treatment schedule that is frequency and duration specific to be discussed with the patient, family, and caregiver.
• Educate the patient, family, and/or caregiver regarding the pathology or condition, treatment alternatives, prognosis, and rationale through various interventions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• PT Experience - Required
• Pediatric Experience - Preferred (candidates will not be scheduled with pediatric patients if not comfortable)
• Acute Care Experience - Highly Preferred
• Current skills checklist, pertinent to physical therapy - Required
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years - Required
• Active Michigan PT License - Required
• Active American Heart Association BLS - Required
