JOB SUMMARY
The Teen Services and Programming Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating innovative library services and programs for teens ages 12–18. This position fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages learning, creativity, leadership, literacy, civic engagement, and positive youth development.
The Coordinator develops partnerships with schools, community organizations, and local agencies to expand opportunities for teens while promoting library services and resources throughout the community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plan, develop, and implement engaging educational, recreational, and cultural programs for teens.
- Create programs that promote literacy, STEM/STEAM, technology, life skills, workforce readiness, health, arts, and leadership.
- Build meaningful relationships with teen patrons and encourage active participation in library programs and services.
- Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all teens.
- Coordinate teen advisory groups and leadership initiatives.
- Facilitate community service and volunteer opportunities for teens.
- Develop civic engagement opportunities such as community surveys, leadership projects, and partnerships with local organizations.
- Support initiatives that empower teens to identify community needs and participate in community improvement projects.
- Develop collaborative relationships with schools, youth organizations, nonprofits, and community agencies.
- Represent the library at community events, schools, and outreach activities.
- Promote library resources and services to teens, families, and educators.
- Coordinate special events and collaborative programming.
- Select, evaluate, and maintain the Young Adult collection in multiple formats.
- Recommend materials based on community interests and current trends.
- Assist with collection maintenance, weeding, and merchandising displays.
- Provide instruction on library technology, databases, and online resources.
- Coordinate makerspace, gaming, coding, digital media, and emerging technology opportunities.
- Encourage digital literacy and responsible technology use.
- Promote teen programs through social media, newsletters, flyers, and community outreach.
- Create engaging displays and promotional materials.
- Track attendance, evaluate program effectiveness, and prepare reports.
- Provide reference and readers' advisory services.
- Work youth service desks assigned.
- Assist with circulation and other library operations as needed.
- Attend professional development opportunities.
- Evening and weekend hours and some holidays are required to support programming and outreach activities.
- Provides exceptional customer service to library patrons, residents, visitors, coworkers, and community partners while representing the City of Page in a professional and positive manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma
- One (1) year of children's recreation experience preferred
- One to three years of experience working with teens in a library, school, recreation, education, or youth development setting preferred.
- Experience planning programs and events
- Experience with outreach and community partnerships.
Licenses or Certifications:
- Valid State driver’s license preferred.
- Maintain or obtain First Aid and CPR certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to motivate children and maintain a positive atmosphere, and if necessary, use positive disciplinary techniques.
- Skill in data collection and analyzing, word processing and preparation of reports and programs.
- Skill in First Aid and CPR.
- Ability to sort and file alphabetically and numerically
- Ability to follow simple oral directions
- Ability to interact with others
- Ability to follow standard office environment safety requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The following physical abilities are required: climbing, fingering, handling, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, and visual acuity.
