Key Responsibilities

• Apply clinical judgment skills to assess, diagnose, and treat patient responses to actual or potential cardiovascular health conditions
• Provide specialized nursing care for cardiology patients undergoing procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemaker placement
• Care for post-operative open heart surgery patients in the early recovery phase (18–24 hours post-op)
• Manage and monitor patients with congestive heart failure and those undergoing electrophysiology studies
• Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary care team to ensure patient safety, quality outcomes, and evidence-based practice
• Float to similar units within the facility as needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Stepdown experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac nursing required
• Comfort with EKG interpretation required
• Active Michigan RN license required (LARA and Nursys verification required)
• Current ACLS certification required
• Current BLS certification required
• Must be willing to float to similar units
• Skills checklist completed within one year of application required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience in a fast-paced cardiovascular or stepdown unit environment
