Program Manager

Position Summary Program Manager – Manhattan, Cancer Center. This position requires independent management of all priorities and associated projects for the Lung Cancer Center and GI Cancer Center, reporting directly to the Assistant Director for Clinical and Translational Initiatives for Perlmutter Cancer Center. Experience in management, strategic planning, performance improvement, and operational efficiency is required. This position is responsible for inter‑ and intra‑departmental coordination in support of all Center projects. Job Responsibilities Plans, organizes and monitors departmental activities as established with the supervisory staff. Provides guidance and leadership to supervisory staff regarding compliance issues. Responsible directly for all performance appraisals of management staff. Works with leadership to ensure scheduled workloads match staff capabilities and resources. Performs other duties as assigned. Program development – plans, develops and implements new procedures for respective units with management staff. Schedules and conducts regular meetings with key personnel of departments to promote effective services, addressing contingencies with plan and data‑driven planning. Proposes and implements programs for generation of new revenue. Oversees all activity programs to ensure compliance with departmental policies. Identifies plans and future needs (staffing, resources) and problem areas, assisting in developing workable solutions and following through with implementation. Maintains records and prepares required reports. Ensures compliance with regulations and acts as liaison with other services. Prepares for periodic inspection by regulatory agencies. Designs and implements an effective departmental quality assurance program, making periodic changes. Educates staff on compliance updates and assists in training all levels. Controls costs by seeking effective means of performing assigned functions; establishes systems to ensure accurate, timely charge entries. Establishes a review/audit system to ensure consistency. Assists in budget preparation when requested by the Director. Monitors operating performance to keep spending within budgeted resources. Compares actual spending to monthly budget and explains variances, developing plans for correction. Implements new policies and procedures related to compliance or organizational changes to support smooth operations. Ensures compliance with mandates of Joint Commission, NY State Dept. of Health, CARF, NYC Dept. of Health, and Medical Staff regulations; communicates changes effectively. Utilizes audit results, QA reports, and incident reports to improve service quality. Develops and approves new policies and procedures with the Director to improve effectiveness. Manages administrative practices for the department. Ensures assignments are understood and followed up with management to reach desired outcomes. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. Five to seven years of hospital experience, including at least two years of supervisory or administrative experience. Strong background in clinical program operations and program development. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a related field. Experience maintaining clinical excellence in preferred area. Salary 70,481.60 – 121,580.64 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
