ELECTION ASSISTANT III, NC

Type of Recruitment Temporary – open to the public. Mission The Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk serves Los Angeles County by providing essential records management and election services in a fair, accessible, and transparent manner. Classification Standards Positions at this supervisory level are responsible for one of several election processes, including: Receipt, inspection, storage, and recording of voted ballot cards at a tally center. Monitoring of vote‑center operations. Resolution of vote‑center operational problems. Essential Duties Supervise subordinate supervisors in the receipt, inspection, storage, and recording of voted ballot cards at a tally center. Assign Election Assistant II(s) to resolve vote‑center operational problems. Receive, evaluate, and resolve vote‑center operational problems. Direct 30‑40 Election Assistant II(s) supervising processing of voted ballot cards, ensuring proper procedures are applied. Resolve difficult problems referred by Election Assistant II(s). Prepare records, reports, and correspondence concerning departmental activities. Plan and direct voter outreach activities. Train subordinate staff on voter outreach activities. Provide training to vote‑center workers. Operate election vote collection centers. Selection Requirements Option I: One (1) year full‑time staff experience. Option II: One (1) year full‑time prior election experience. License Requirement A valid California Class C driver’s license or an acceptable alternative method of transportation when required. Physical Class Physical Class 2 – Light Work: Administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort, occasional light lifting up to 10 pounds, and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Some ambulation may be involved. Special Requirements Full‑time experience is evaluated on a 40‑hour workweek basis; part‑time work is prorated month‑for‑month. Staff experience is defined as advisory work to line managers, providing program and administrative support, including research, analysis, and recommendations on personnel utilization, fund allocation, workload management, and procedural improvement. Examination Content This is a noncompetitive assessment process; taking an exam is not required. Applicants will be evaluated based on the supplemental questionnaire.
