Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years ED RN experience required License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI required Must-Have: - 2 years ED RN experience - BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI certifications Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department. The facility has 16 beds and does not have a trauma designation. Patient types include pediatric and adult patients with conditions such as COPD, CHF, chest pain, MI, N-STEMI, stroke, TIA, new onset cardiac arrhythmia, uncontrolled diabetes, and minor trauma. Patient ratios are RN: 1:4-5 based on acuity. The nurse will be required to have a general ED skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, vent management, chest tubes, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, and conscious sedation. ESI assessments are also required. Support within the department includes CNAs and charge nurses who may or may not have patient assignments. Ancillary departments such as RT are available 24/7, as are hospitalists and ED physician teams. Monitors used are Phillips, and general med-surg equipment is also available. Nurses will be required to float as needed within their scope of practice. Every other weekend rotation is expected. Travelers will work 75% of holidays, and up to 6 days off can be approved, excluding holidays. The required scrub color is navy. General ED experience and required certifications are essential for this role.
