Senior Communications Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Communications Technician who thrives in independent fieldwork and hands‑on technical environments. This role supports national telecommunications systems, requiring travel, on-call availability, and direct interaction with field operations and engineering teams. Key Responsibilities: Provide national telecommunications field support across a large geographic area Travel up to 50% to support field operations and project implementations Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Avaya communications systems (CM, Session Manager, System Manager, G430/G450 gateways, voicemail) Support implementation of new systems in partnership with project teams Perform preventative maintenance, fault isolation, and advanced troubleshooting Provide 24/7 on-call support for communications systems Act as liaison between field operations and IT/communications engineering teams Direct and manage local contractors for telecom installations and maintenance Support carrier services for provisioning, installation, and troubleshooting of voice and data infrastructure Deliver first-level training and technical support to field operations personnel Promote field standards and provide feedback for continuous improvement Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required Associate’s degree in Electronics or 7+ years of equivalent field experience 7+ years of experience installing and maintaining Avaya telecommunications systems Hands‑on experience with telecom test equipment and diagnostic software Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and system maintenance capabilities Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks without direct supervision Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate across teams and with external partners Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to work in outdoor environments and safely operate a motor vehicle Preferred Skills: Network certification (e.g., CCNA) preferred Self‑motivated with strong ownership mentality in field environments Capable of balancing multiple responsibilities across telecom systems and field operations Strong interpersonal skills with ability to support and train non‑technical personnel Adaptable and comfortable working in remote and physically demanding environments You have 7+ years Avaya telecom installation experience.
