Ped Hematologist Oncologist with a Focus in Neuro-Oncology

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a full-time BC/BE pediatric hematologist/oncologist who will also serve as a clinical faculty member at the assistant/associate professor level. The ideal candidate has a clinical focus within neuro-oncology and is interested in quality improvement/clinical research/medical education. Akron Children's Hospital is a teaching hospital with an ACGME-accredited Hematology/Oncology fellowship training program and a medical school affiliation with Northeast Ohio Medical University.

The ideal candidate will:

• Strengthen the pediatric neuro-oncology program by providing consistent, high-quality clinical coverage that enhances patient care, continuity, and outcomes for children with complex neurologic cancers.
• Foster a collaborative and sustainable care model by expanding physician resources, supporting the well-being of the multidisciplinary team, and promoting long-term provider engagement.
• Enhance program stability and resilience through expanded specialty expertise, ensuring reliable access to pediatric neuro-oncology services for patients and families.
• Accelerate growth in neuro-oncology research by increasing opportunities for clinical trial enrollment, strengthening academic collaborations, and advancing the organization's research and innovation mission.
• Expand clinical capacity to meet the increasing demand for general pediatric oncology services, improving access to care while supporting continued program growth and excellence.

Each year the center cares for approximately 100 new oncology patients (30 of which are brain and spinal tumor patients), 15 stem cell/marrow transplant patients, 170 sickle cell patients and 540 bleeding disorder patients. The staff also provides care through nearly 13,000 patient encounters annually. Akron Children's Hospital is a member of the Children's Oncology Group, is a member of the Children's Brain Tumor Network, houses a FACT-accredited pediatric stem cell transplantation center and is approved by the National Marrow Donor Program, and is one of only 9 pediatric cancer centers in the country to be verified by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a Pediatric Cancer Hospital.

Programs at the Akron Children's Hospital Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders include hematology, oncology, stem cell and marrow transplantation, neuro-oncology, neurofibromatosis, cancer survivorship, fertility preservation, a state-funded sickle cell program and regional hemostasis and thrombosis center. Hematology/oncology care is provided at our Golisano campus in Akron, our Beeghly campus in Boardman, Ohio, and a monthly outreach clinic in the Amish Community. The Hematology/Oncology team is currently comprised of 10 faculty members and is growing along with seventeen advanced practice providers and an extensive team of nursing professionals and support staff.
