Technical Environment

The team supports a backend Content Management System hosted on AWS. The environment includes AWS Lambda, SQS, Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, REST APIs, and vector database integrations .

A key initiative involves migrating existing AWS Lambda functions so that they communicate with a new backend service. The platform processes data from users' systems and moves content/data through backend services into a vector database for AI-related use cases.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a solid senior-level backend software engineer with strong TypeScript/JavaScript and API development experience , production AWS experience, and an interest in AI. Extensive enterprise AI production experience is not required . Candidates who have explored AI through personal projects, experimentation, or self-learning and understand concepts such as LLM/token costs are encouraged to apply.

This is an opportunity for an experienced backend engineer to transition further into AI platform engineering while leveraging strong software engineering fundamentals.

Position Overview

Client is seeking a Senior AI Backend Platform Engineer to design, develop, deploy, monitor, and support production-grade backend services and AI platform capabilities. The ideal candidate is a strong software engineer with extensive backend development experience, particularly with Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, REST APIs, AWS, and distributed systems , along with an interest in or exposure to AI technologies.

This role will contribute to an AWS-based Content Management System and backend services supporting AI applications. The engineer will work closely with AI engineers, architects, and product teams to build secure, scalable, reliable, and reusable platform services.

Required

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proven experience delivering and supporting enterprise-grade production software .
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript .
• Strong JavaScript development experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting REST APIs and backend services .
• Production experience with AWS .
• Working knowledge of Python and willingness to contribute to Python-based services.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and distributed systems .
• Experience with Git, code reviews, and modern software development practices .
• Understanding of CI/CD and automated deployment pipelines .
• Experience implementing logging, monitoring, and observability solutions.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices, API security, authentication, and OWASP fundamentals .
• Experience working within Agile development teams .
• Demonstrated interest in or hands-on exposure to AI/Generative AI technologies . Personal projects or self-directed experience are acceptable.
• Understanding of AI-related concepts such as token usage and cost considerations is a plus.

• Experience with Python-based AI services or platforms .
• Exposure to Generative AI, LLMs, vector databases, or AI application development .
• Experience with AWS Lambda and SQS .
• Experience working with content management systems or data-processing platforms.
