The Medical Writer supports the development of high‑quality regulatory documents across Acumen’s Nonclinical and Clinical Writing departments. This is an ideal developmental role for an early career professional with a strong scientific background in academic or industry research. Working under the guidance of experienced mentors, the Medical Writer will gain exposure to both clinical and nonclinical regulatory writing and develop the scientific, technical, and operational skills needed to take on increasing responsibility and independence over time. Key responsibilities Support the planning, development, and review of nonclinical and clinical regulatory documents, with increasing responsibility as experience and proficiency develop. Contribute to a variety of document types, which may include nonclinical study reports and Module 2 summaries, protocols, protocol amendments, Investigator Brochures, DSURs, clinical study reports, and other regulatory submission documents. Review, interpret, and synthesize scientific information and data from a variety of sources to draft and revise assigned document(s), ensuring scientific accuracy, clarity, consistency, and appropriate level of detail. Collaborate with Sponsor subject matter experts, Nonclinical and Clinical Medical Writers, and cross‑functional teams to gather information, address comments, and support regulatory documents and submissions. Support document development and timelines by ensuring assigned documents are complete, appropriately structured, and delivered according to project deadlines. Develop knowledge of applicable nonclinical and clinical regulatory guidelines, industry standards, client requirements, and Acumen SOPs and processes through hands‑on experience, training, and professional development. Demonstrate increasing ownership and independence while maintaining a strong commitment to quality, scientific integrity, collaboration, continuous learning, and Acumen’s company values. Requirements Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD) strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline with 3-5 years of relevant industry medical writing experience acceptable. Strong scientific writing and communication skills, with the ability to critically review, interpret, synthesize, and communicate complex scientific information and data clearly and accurately. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality. Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and deadlines. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with writers, project teams, and scientific SMEs and to receive, incorporate, and learn from feedback. Intellectual curiosity, initiative, adaptability, and resourcefulness, with a demonstrated ability to learn new scientific concepts and an interest in developing expertise across both clinical and nonclinical drug development. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including experience with styles, tables, references, Track Changes, comments, and document formatting.
