** Position Details **

Position Title: Project Accountant

Reports To: Controller

Department: Finance / Corporate Accounting

Core Alignment: Finance Project Lead to Operations (Project Managers & Project Coordinators)

** About the Role **

Sourcedesk Global Inc is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support project financial management and accounting operations within a growing construction-focused organization.

The Project Accountant acts as the central finance project lead, connecting day-to-day project operations with corporate financial oversight. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role works closely with Project Managers (PMs) and Project Coordinators (PCs) to provide financial visibility, project cost control, and reporting support.

This is a highly collaborative and operationally focused position. The successful candidate will work directly with project teams to ensure construction projects are financially controlled, accurately reported, and executed profitably while maintaining alignment with corporate accounting requirements.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in construction accounting, project cost management, and job-level financial tracking. Experience with Jonas Premier or similar construction accounting systems will be considered an asset.

** Key Responsibilities **

_ ** Operational Integration & Project Team Collaboration **_

· Serve as the primary finance contact between corporate accounting and assigned Project Managers / Project Coordinators.

· Collaborate with project teams to review active project pipelines, financial status, commitments, and upcoming requirements.

· Provide project teams with accurate financial information required to manage individual projects effectively.

· Bridge communication between operations and finance by converting project progress, delays, changes, and milestones into structured financial information.

_ ** Project Cost Accounting & Margin Control **_

· Manage project-level accounting activities, including tracking project costs, commitments, revenues, and profitability.

· Prepare, review, and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and support Estimate at Completion (EAC) reporting.

· Analyze project performance by comparing actual costs against budgets and identifying potential cost overruns or financial risks.

· Support project forecasting activities and provide financial insights to improve project profitability.

· Track change orders and ensure approved changes are accurately reflected in project budgets and reporting.

_ ** Construction Billing & Financial Administration **_

· Support project billing processes, including progress draws, billing documentation, and project-related submissions.

· Review subcontractor invoices, vendor costs, purchase orders, and commitments to ensure proper project allocation.

· Assist with tracking subcontractor holdbacks, lien releases, and other construction-related financial requirements.

· Monitor project accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to support timely payments and collections.

· Assist with project cash flow tracking and reporting.

_ ** Systems & Financial Reporting Support **_

· Maintain accurate project financial information within construction accounting systems such as Jonas Premier or equivalent ERP platforms.

· Support month-end closing activities, including project reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.

· Prepare project-level financial reports, cost summaries, and variance analysis for management review.

· Assist with improving accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.

_ ** Qualifications & Skills **_

· Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

· 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in project accounting, construction accounting, construction bookkeeping, or similar finance roles.

· Practical experience managing financial information for individual active construction projects.

· Strong understanding of construction project accounting, job costing, cost tracking, and project profitability management.

· Experience supporting Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, Estimate at Completion (EAC) reporting, and project forecasting.

· Knowledge of construction billing processes, including progress draws, subcontractor invoices, holdbacks, and change order tracking.

· Experience working with construction accounting software such as Jonas Premier or similar ERP systems is preferred.

· Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze financial information and prepare project reports.

· Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.

· Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.

· A CPA designation is not mandatory. Hands-on project accounting experience, construction finance knowledge, and the ability to support operational teams are strongly valued over formal designation.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience supporting commercial construction, general contracting, or construction-related businesses.

· Experience working directly with Project Managers and operational teams.

· Understanding of the construction project lifecycle, project commitments, and financial controls.

· Experience supporting monthly project reviews and profitability analysis.
