Job Title: Inventory Specialist
Job Description

The Inventory Specialist accurately receives, stores, tracks, and dispatches materials and parts within a manufacturing environment. This role uses inventory systems, forklifts, and material handling equipment to maintain precise stock levels, support production needs, and ensure all incoming and outgoing shipments meet quality and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Receive and count stock items, ensuring quantities match packing lists and purchase orders.
• Stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment to maintain clear and accurate labeling.
• Store materials and parts in designated warehouse, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other storage areas in an organized manner.
• Run and review inventory reports to help maintain accurate inventory levels and identify discrepancies.
• Inspect incoming parts and materials, recording any damage, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
• Verify the accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments, including part numbers, quantities, and documentation.
• Prepare work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to support shipping and internal material movement.
• Dispatch parts and materials to the appropriate departments or locations as requested.
• Issue tools, equipment, and supplies to authorized personnel and track their usage through inventory or ERP systems.
• Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to uphold a safe and orderly work environment.
• Report broken or damaged tools and equipment so repairs or replacements can be arranged promptly.
• Load and unload materials using a sit-down forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
• Operate an overhead crane to move heavy materials as required, following all safety procedures.
• Use ERP systems and RF scanners to record inventory transactions and maintain real-time inventory accuracy.
• Perform order pulling and picking to fulfill internal and external material requests.
• Collaborate with team members and other departments to support production schedules and shipping timelines.

• At least 2 years of inventory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency operating a sit-down forklift.
• Experience operating an overhead crane.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems and RF scanners for inventory management.
• Proven experience with order pulling and picking in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read and verify shipping and receiving documentation, including work orders and bills of lading.
• Strong attention to detail when counting, labeling, and inspecting parts and materials.
• Ability to safely load, unload, and move materials using material handling equipment.
• Capability to maintain clean and organized storage, tool, and supply areas.
• Basic computer literacy to run inventory reports and enter data into ERP systems.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and support multiple priorities.

• Heavy forklift experience (up to approximately 36,000 lbs capacity).
• Experience operating a reach truck.
• Experience operating a cherry picker.
• Familiarity with shipping processes and documentation.
• Comfort working with various material handling and warehouse equipment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a production setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment that combines warehouse and production support activities. You will regularly work around industrial equipment and machinery while operating material handling equipment such as sit-down forklifts, overhead cranes, and potentially reach trucks and cherry pickers. The position supports multiple shifts, with typical schedules including a first shift from 5:00 AM to 2:30 PM and a second shift from 2:00 PM to 12:30 AM, with current needs focused on second shift. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization in storage areas, tool rooms, and supply rooms, and requires adherence to standard manufacturing and warehouse safety practices and attire.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jersey Village, TX.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
