Core Faculty Position in Doctoral Clinical Psychology Department

William James College announces an opening for a full-time core faculty position in the Doctoral Clinical Psychology Department beginning on August 4, 2026. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and the benefits are highly competitive. The minimum starting salary for this academic position is $90,000 and is consistent with the department's salary equity considerations for incoming faculty.

Essential functions include teaching, advising, and research supervision. There is the expectation of committee work and scholarly productivity. We are seeking applicants who can teach generalist courses in the Clinical Psy.D. program. Qualified applicants for this position should have experience in teaching foundational courses at the graduate level (e.g., Clinical Practice, Social Bases of Behavior, Cognitive Assessment). The successful applicant may also teach specialized courses depending on their relevant expertise. Applicants will also supervise dissertations in their specific area of expertise. We are especially interested in candidates with a strong appreciation for and commitment to WJC's core values of experiential education, social responsibility, and personal growth.

Education and experience requirements include a PsyD or PhD in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology, completion of an APA-accredited internship, teaching experience, preferably being licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts, and maintaining some involvement in clinical practice or consultation. A demonstrated record of scholarly work defined broadly (e.g., community engagement, educational leadership, innovation, investigation, and research) is preferred. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and equitable educational and workplace environment, and must be willing to contribute to the core values of the college. Candidates must be available to teach in-person classes and participate in on-campus activities. The department welcomes applications from individuals who may have had nontraditional career paths, or who may have taken time off for family reasons, or who have achieved excellence in careers outside of academia.

Compensation range: $90,000-$100,000 annually. This range represents the college's good faith estimate of the compensation for this role. Placement within the range will depend on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Typically, candidates are hired within the lower to mid-point of the range, with the upper end reserved for individuals who bring significant, directly relevant experience and fully meet or exceed the role's requirements.
