Circulating Nurse

We are hiring for a 1.0 FTE Circulating Nurse to join our surgical services team! This is a full-time position which is benefit eligible. Position will work 4 10-hour shifts (40 hours/week), primarily M-F, with on call requirements of after hours, one holiday per year of call, and every 4th-6th weekend call.

Preferred: 1 year minimum of RN experience with 1 year of OR experience. Will consider new OR nurses with completion of Periop 101 course through Anoka Technical College preferred prior to starting.

Purpose of position

This position exists to administer family-centered nursing care to patients, advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and/or provide skilled assistance in navigation of the health care system as appropriate to the developmental, cultural, emotional, and medical, surgical, or rehabilitative needs of the patient and their families.

Specific duties are determined by the work setting or patient population served; however, in all positions, serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires a concentration of specialized staff able to work in highly coordinated teams. We organize care around each patient's condition which requires staff at multiple levels and across many departments to exhibit exceptional teamwork qualities including communicating efficiently and effectively and adopting the behaviors required for high functioning integrated teams.

Compensation & Benefit Information

The hourly wage for this opportunity is $44.58-$76.19. Pay is dependent on several factors including number of hours worked within the field, education, and certification/licensure: $1.75 weekend/ $2.35 evening/ $4.00 night differential is available for this position. Hourly pay is just one part of the compensation package for employees. • Implements an effective teaching plan, including educating patients and families about the anesthesia process and addressing their concerns to ensure they are prepared for the procedure.
• Employs strategies to promote health in a safe environment.
• Seeks opportunity to evaluate effectiveness of health education as culturally and developmentally appropriate.
• Autonomous Practice Exercises independent judgment that influences care and demonstrates understanding of potential clinical implications.
• Supervises, delegates, and provides care based on the abilities and limitations of care personnel and patient acuity.
• Identifies and incorporates evidence-based improvements into own daily work.

Qualifications

Required

• Documentation of completion of professional nursing program (RN program)
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license through the MN Board of Nursing
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. If candidate holds valid CPR for through another acceptable organization (as determined by Gillette), candidate may be able to begin employment but must complete Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association within one month of employment.
• Must be interested in working with people with short-term or long-term disabilities that begin in childhood.
• Critical care experience
• Physically able to work hours required and meet physical demands of the position. In certain departments, this will include being part of the off premises call schedule.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or other healthcare related field
• Prior nursing experience in a health-related setting
• Pediatric care experience
• Nursing Specialty Certification relevant to the position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of anesthesia techniques
• Excellent customer service skills
