Experience, Heavy Equipment Operator Landfill

Overview We are seeking an Experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to work onsite at our waste disposal facility in Elgin, SC. The role focuses on operating heavy machinery safely and efficiently to support our waste management and recycling operations. Pay and Benefits Starting salary $21–$24 per hour, depending on experience Stable work hours for financial security Access to a stock purchase plan Comprehensive healthcare coverage including dental, vision, and prescription drugs Annual Education Assistance Benefit available for team members Company‑matched 401(k) Adoption assistance and parent support Hours and Location Monday – Friday: 7:30 am – 6:30 pm Every other weekend: 5 am – 2 pm Facility: Waste disposal site in Elgin, SC Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment, such as bulldozers, scrapers, and front‑end loaders, in compliance with safety policies and procedures Conduct routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance; maintain accurate records Move and position raw materials and finished components using material moving equipment Follow standard operating procedures for vehicle operation and maintenance Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications At least 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment Over 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations Successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screen and physical exam Preferred: 3+ years of experience with dozer, excavator, compactor, or dump truck The Kind of People Who Thrive in Our Team Work independently and take accountability for safety guidelines Communicate effectively and support colleagues Problem‑solve independently Physical and Work Environment Require motor coordination and finger dexterity for most of the workday Occasional physical exertion to handle objects under 30 lb Rare exposure to cuts, burns, or toxic chemicals Most of the workday involves exposure to dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements Working environment: shop or field Equal Opportunity Employer WM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
